“The Future Of (Social Media) Philanthropy?”–A Review

This really gets me excited! (I guess you can “take the girl out of the nonprofit leadership role, but you can’t (entirely) take the nonprofit “DNA” out of the girl.” At least, something got my old familiar social justice and philanthropy juices stirring when I read this blog post a few minutes ago. I’d like to suggest that you all read it too.

Thanks, Jay Kubassek, for once again being a voice from the leading Internet edge, showing the rest of us where to look to see the future!

Jay talks about Jumo–a new (coming) site that will help to connect people in the social networking tradition– around social change and philanthropy. I love this and can’t wait to see Jumo for myself!

Scheduled to launch in the fall of 2010, Jumo is the creation of Chris Hughes, founder and CEO of Facebook. I guess he knows a little about the power of social networking, eh?

Kubassek, CEO and Co-founder of Carbon Copy PRO, the leading global Internet Marketing education “incubator” for new Internet entrepreneurs, has a knack for spotting talent and trends, and knowing exactly how to leverage them for the greater good. That has a lot to do with my own respect for PRO and its leadership; the company–and the community that comprises it–is built on a solid foundation of social sensitivity and commitment to action.

As a 30+ year veteran of the nonprofit leadership and management world
, my own commitment to social justice and social care runs deep and wide. That is why I am so encouraged–and excited–when I see leaders and shakers like Hughes and Kubassek taking a stand for social change, and then going the extra mile to DO something about it that can get us all more involved.

Thanks, guys! You truly rock the world
and I am proud to be an entrepreneurial colleague in this online web we are all weaving together.

Be amazed and amazing,

Thia
