The Good News first: the Internet has entirely changed the way people live, communicate, work, and do business in the world today. That is great news for business owners, entrepreneurs, and anyone thinking strategically about their next job or career move. The Internet has essentially removed the walls and geographic barriers that separated any individual from any opportunity–whether to make a new friend, to learn something new, access goods and services, and ultimately to market and sell anything, to anyone, anywhere in the world. The Internet has made planet earth a smaller and more intimate place to be.
Sort of.
The downside, then (from this Internet business owner’s perspective), is that in the first decade or so of e-commerce, (yes, that is how young this phenomenon really is!), industry standards for online marketing were…shall we say… pretty lawless. That being the case, there was a lot of JUNK crowding cyberspace, along side–or sometimes pushing its way ahead of–the good stuff; the legitimate business offers and opportunities.
In 2009 the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) backed up by Google, started championing the effort to clean up cyberspace and start banishing poor quality, illegitimate, irrelevant, and frankly cheesy advertising from the web. I say, HOORAY!! It is a big job, however, and so the beat will go on for a good long time.
What does this mean? Considering rising unemployment, the growing number of jobless in the U.S. and around the world, and other economic and labor trends that predict many traditional jobs to be on paths to extinction, anyone who is considering next career and life steps, would do well to consider the Internet and learn how to work online from home.
The skills can be learned: the technical skills as well as the business-development and leadership skills. Developing the skills necessary to ensure long-term financial and personal success makes so much more sense than continuing to work for wages that come and go, and for employers and industries that also come and go. What used to be the American dream, has become the American nightmare for far too many people.
The happiest most productive people I know today, are Internet entrepreneurs who have made good–that is, high quality–connections and learned how to succeed legitimately, ethically, and for the good of others–not just for personal gain.
I’m on a mission to see the Internet marketing industry held in high esteem, because I believe it is the future, and it is NOW.
I am committed to doing my part to support this effort in a few ways:
- I hold myself to a high standard;
- I seek out and partner ONLY with other individuals and company’s that share my values and commitment to excellence;
- I offer new entrepreneurs and others dealing with job, career, and/or retirement transitions a proven system for starting and succeeding in Internet work from home, using ONLY legitmate, proven, and profitable methods.
Be amazed and amazing,
